We've creatively staged specially selected vintage mixed with new home decor items for your home in a relaxaing space for your heart. The warmth of our space will inspire you with ideas for your own home. You'll also find women's tee's, accessories, recycled military tent canvas purses, and our own pure soy candles...The 5th Street Candle Collection, created from our family recipes, like Millie's Warm Apple Cobbler, and Esther Mae's Southern Sweet Peach Tea...all made in America products. The amazing lobby with 16' ceilings and 148-year-old original hardwood floors, holds a small coffee shop, 201 Coffee, You'll also find awesome items at our shop Millie McKeever's Vintage & Home Decor. Our building also offers unique spaces to meet. Women use The Gathering Room for a casual meet up over coffee, special lunches, Bible Study groups, Birthday parties, and meetings. We also offer our 1875 Upstairs Boarding Room Kitchen for small groups, and we have Esther's Tea Room in our restored 1875 bank vault...perfect for tea-for-2. Our building offer's fun experiences you'll remember for a long time. It's about my years growing up on 5th Street, a quaint little neighborhood tucked in Highland Park in Des Moines, Iowa. Our neighborhood was like the fictional Mayberry. There's so much of my history, my roots, on the big hill of 5th Street. It's where my story begins. If you can, visualize the tidy well manicured lawns of 5th Street, with small cozy homes lining the big hill...porches where you were always welcome and the neighbors visited over coffee and sweet tea as flags waved in the breeze...you're in the right spot, welcome to my childhood neighborhood. The 5th Street Candle Collection was created to share the stories of the women of 5th Street from the book ‘Heart of a Warrior’ - A Legacy of Faith. These one-of-a-kind unique candles bring the devotions in 'Heart of a Warrior' to life. The simple brown tag on the candles have their favorite recipe (often the very scent the candle was created from) and part of their encouraging story. These candles light the flame of hope and encouragement, passed down from the 5th Street Warriors to you. A flame of love and devotion to God that will not be snuffed out from generation to generation. The candles are made locally in Walnut, Iowa by a candlemaker. They are hand poured one at a time with pure soy and exceptionally high quality ingredients made only in the USA. These special candles tell a story. They're different.
