Ed and Karen Chabal are the owners of their vintage shop, Central Park Antiques, in a historically-restored store in downtown Washington, Iowa. It features the original 11-foot tin ceilings and incorporates new schoolhouse-type pendant lighting.

They have been antique dealers for 20 years in shops in southeast and east central Iowa, but had the desire to become a part of the vibrant business district on the square in Washington, a dream they realized in 2021.

"It takes the efforts of many dedicated business people to encourage the retail community to grow and thrive," says Karen. "We have seen tremendous things happen because of that dedication. We wanted to contribute to our hometown this way, too."

We and our dealers strive to offer true antiques and collectibles with a flair for local, unusual advertising pieces, stoneware, farm primitives, vintage furniture, toys, books and more. Ed has enjoyed collecting since he was in high school and Karen has cultivated an interest in history ever since she was a young girl. They can't wait to meet you and share the treasures in their beautiful store.
