Lincoln Highway Nitty Gritty Antique Festival

The open-air market will feature over 70 vendor booths. More than 8,000 visitors are expected for the one-day-only outdoor sale. Mount Vernon’s historic First Street will be closed to traffic for the day, creating a Pedestrian Mall with an outdoor food court and vendor booths set up and down three blocks of Mount Vernon’s Uptown Business District. The Lincoln Highway Nitty Gritty focuses on vintage, agricultural, repurposed, industrial, primitive, and retro pieces, as well as traditional collectibles and antiques. NEW THIS YEAR-We are welcoming Artisan Vendors! The event remains popular with the antique-buying public because of its Uptown location on a hill that allows the festival to go on rain or shine. And the festival’s location right in front of Mount Vernon’s air-conditioned shops and restaurants, including multiple antique shops, offers a comfortable retreat from the outdoor, open-air festival. As always the event is free and open to the public with indoor antique stores, free parking, and plenty of cool inside dining available. The annual Labor Day Flea Market will be held Aug 31 – Sept 2 on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at Treasure Village at Lake Okoboji, IA. ART HARVEST TOUR

The "ART HARVEST TOUR" is a free studio tour of central Iowa artists held annually the last full weekend in Sept. Enjoy the beautiful fall weather and scenery as you visit the studios and galleries of the area's best artists. In addition to enjoying the studios, you'll see a much wider selection of the artists work, and great prices and specials too. A number of artists will be demoing their work as well. There will be around a dozen stops on the approximately 90 mile loop around the beautiful Des Moines River Valley. Several locations will be hosting multiple artists.This lets us include artists without sufficient studio space to host, as well as keeping the number of stops manageable so you can do the tour in an afternoon.
